What do Obama and Nixon have in common? Neither like the Washington press

OK, maybe most presidents share this trait, but Obama—unlike Nixon, Bush or Clinton—has more opportunities to go around the Washington press to appeal directly to people sympathetic to his agenda. Obama and his aides have given interviews to left wing bloggers, local reporters and ethnic media. Do traditional media still pack the punch they once did to burn a president who fails to talk with them?
