YouTube video could spark PR firestorm for GM

The company recalled 2,100 Chevy Cruze models after a steering wheel came loose on one car. A video depicting this is gaining traction online.

The video’s narrator shows you his new 2011 Chevy Cruze with 1,609 miles—and a steering wheel hanging precariously from the steering column.

“This steering wheel fell of while driving 65 mph on the highway,” reads the next screen of the video. “In the car was a mother, grandmother and 19 month old grandson. They swerved to stop inches from a guardrail.”

The defect has prompted GM to recall 2,100 of the cars.
