“Too much fluff and not enough valuable content” is a serious problem with social media these days, Christine Perkett wrote on the PerketPRsuasion blog. “I have over 10,000 followers on Twitter today but I wouldn’t tout those numbers as the value in a new business pitch,” she blogged. “Rather, I would tout that I know how to identify and communicate with the specific followers within that number that would matter to the prospect.”

Well, you should be if you want to make it in this business, said PR pro Dave Fleet. “If you work in communications and you break into a sweat at the first sight of a graph, you need to study-up FAST if you want to progress,” Fleet blogged. “No, just being able to create a graph in Excel does not cut it. Data alone does nothing. You need to be able to analyze that data.”
